About Maureen

Born in Liverpool Maureen has lived in the Maidstone for 38 years, arriving when her family were posted to 36 Engineer Regiment Invicta Park in 1986. A proud trade unionist Maureen is a member of UNISON was a lead negotiator at Kent County Council, she has worked in local government, NHS and private and voluntary sector in mental health services. With a family background in the armed forces Maureen is a service champion. As part of her community engagement she is a member of the organising committee for the Maidstone Mela, an Independent Custody Visitor and supports community larders in Maidstone.


Maureen is Leader of the Labour Group on Maidstone Borough Council and is committed to improving services for local residents and bringing the change that Maidstone & Malling so desperately needs. 

Pledges for Maidstone and Malling

Tackle Crime and ASB

Under the Conservatives residents do not feel safe in Maidstone and Malling. Labour will put more police and PCSO's back in local communities.

An NHS & Social Care system that works

Our precious NHS is broken with residents unable to get GP appointments or primary care. We need a long term solution to fix our broken NHS and Social Care system and Labour will do this.

Combat our local housing crisis

We have a housing crisis under the Conservatives. Labour will build the affordable, social and council housing to meet the needs of local people.

Cost of Living Crisis

Under the Conservative's failed policies residents have seen bills increase such as rent, mortgages and utilities. Labour has a plan to tackle the cost of living crisis including creating GB Energy

A Cleaner and Greener Maidstone and Malling

There is a climate emergency, we need to tackle this together as a society and put in place the infrastructure we need to protect the environment and enforcement powers against those that blight our environment.

Jobs and the local economy

Labour have a plan to fix and grow our economy, protect our local high streets by reforming business rates and will work with businesses to create the local jobs residents want.
